Save the Children Youth Sweden

Save the Children Youth Sweden was created for you. It is an organization of youth for youth that fights for the rights of children and youth, in Sweden and in the world. Save the Children Youth Sweden was founded in September 2003.

The objective of Save the Children Youth Sweden is that all children and youth will have equal rights. We focus our work on equality, exclusion and influence. Our work is based on the UN:s Convention on the rights of the Child. We have established our political views in a List of Demands.

Save the Children Youth Sweden is a non-religious and party politically independent organization. You can become a member if you share our values and are between the ages of 7- 26 years. As a member you can be active in our local-/ projects or national theme groups.

Our political views

Not being party political does not mean that you are not political. Save the Children Youth Sweden is a political organization. We have political views and fights for improving the life of children and youth.

We believe in children and youth participation in the society. We mean that children and youth have the right to be equal citizens and that their voice is important. WE ARE NOT THE FUTURE WE ARE NOW!

The child rights convention

All our work is based on the UN:s Convention on the rights of the Child. A convention is juridical binding, which means that all states that have affiliated themselves to the convention are obliged to follow it. Every time you think something or someone is breaking your rights you can use the child rights convention as a means of bringing pressure to bear and proof for showing that you are not be treated that way!

The objective of Save the Children Youth Sweden

Save the Children Youth Sweden aims at achieving a sustainable change in the conditions that hinder the child from getting his or her rights respected and protected.
We work for:
• That children and youth are aware of their rights
• That children and youth will be strengthen as individuals
• Influence and improve the conditions of children and youth

Organization

Save the Children Youth Sweden consists of its members that are active in local groups, national themes groups and in projects.

The top organ is the annual meeting and during the year the central board runs the organization. A secretary that exists for all the members supports the central board.
